Many thanks, Paula - you went to a great deal of trouble, and I do appreciate it. I had most of your information, but found some little details that will be helpful. James Ratliff, father of Commack and of my Lavinia, died in Caldwell 1852-53; I've been working on this family, among MANY others, since about 1973. It's expensive, but I subscribe to Ancestry for their census records. The indexes are not always dependable (have done lots of transcription and know how difficult the handwriting and fading ink can be), but have been useful in locating some of this family after they moved away from Caldwell. I've said way too much, but wanted to let you know how very much I appreciated your time spent in my behalf.
