Hello Les,
I cannot remember if I ever saw this post, or if I answered it. sorry, Life's been more than stressful the last few years. wont bother you with the details but it includes falling down the stairs and knocking myself silly! no broken bones thankfully.
We are getting ready to move into the California Veteran's home and I may not have the same email after July 30. Here is my cell phone 530-276-3584.
I don't remember if it was you or John Sheppard that told me the story of William Minear going off to hunt a cow and getting killed and that she then married Curtis (Joe I think) she was pregnant with her only son (which must be your Grandparent) and then had 2 girls by Curtis, Lydia and Armazinda? I have a bit of news which I didn't have before, One of my 2nd cousins, Gary Embree moved to Bandera County 4-5 years ago, he had no idea that his Grandmother Etta Sheppard Laine (daughter of Jack & Lydia) was born there, He and his wife just loved the area and bought some land and moved down there from here in Calif. near where I live. He & wife, Judy, hired a contractor who is descended from Paralee Sheppard, Jack's sister! Don't remember off the top of my head what the name is but I do remember my Dad speaking of that family. My records/photos are all boxed and it will be several months before I can get into them and get going again with the family history. Ha I just remebered, I think the name was Keyes. Someone many years ago sent my parents a copy of the Minear family history but because I'm not directly descended from Minear I didn't pay much attention to it. I do still have the papers.
I gather from the newspaper I have "150 yrs in Bandera County" that the Minears & Curtises were Mormons, I know that Lydia Curtis' sister married Jack Sheppard's brother Thomas Jefferson Sheppard who converted to Mormonism. and one of their son's about the same age as my father, Jess, was named Wesley. John sheppard whom you have been in contact with is from Tom & Armazinda's line. I have not heard back from him. One of my 2nd cousins did some research at the Texas Ranger Museum and found where a couple of Sheppards (one was Jacks father, also William A.Sheppard and his brother Thomas! confusing but this was in 1841) and they had come to Texas to fight in the Mexican war and were given some land. One of them went back to the United States of the North!!. Jack was born in Union Parrish LA.
I'm sending ths via your email you told me and also thru Ancestry
Best wishes, Vala Hope I hear back from you.
