According to the following: A settlement made this 29th day of Sept. 1871, John Webb, guardian to Leander Webb, minor heir of Andrew Jackson Webb, deceased" Is this a child of the Jackson Webb who died at Murfreesboro during the Civil War? Why did John Webb, who actually lived in Jefferson County, take in this Leander Webb? Shown in the 1870 household of John Webb as James, and shown in the 1880 census as Leander, and therefore concluded to be named James Leander Webb. There is a Jacoson Webb who died in the Civil War, and that Jackson S. Webb had married Mary Large. She is shown as a widow in the 1870 census as having a son named James G. Webb ahe 9, daughter Mary L. Webb age 7, and son G. W. Webb age 16. So this James Leander Webb apparently is not the same. Can anyone help shed some light on this mystery?
