William Kenneth Sublett, 73, of Union City died June 9, 2007, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with burial following in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rives. Dr. Bobby Williams will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Fred Thomas.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 this evening.
Pallbearers will be Ben Ferguson, Dan Ferguson, Joe Ferguson, Ryan Angel, Johnny Garrett, Phillip Sublett, Billy Garrigan, Cliff Sublett, Jimmy Sublett, Jack Sublett, Al Tynes, Mike Tynes, David Sublett Jr. and Scott Sublett.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Rives Union Church, members of the Corner Barbecue Coffee Club and William Reese, Kenneth Cheatham, Frankie Cheatham, Phillip Watkins, Barry Duncan and Blake Cheatham.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope or Union City Rotary Club Scholarship Fund.
He was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Obion County, son of the late Stella Florence (Keel) and Edward Clifton Sublett Sr. He married the former Wanda Jane Wilkerson on March 13, 1955. She survives. He was a 1952 graduate of the former Rives High School, where he was a member of the basketball team.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a retired employee of AT&T, having worked as a technician, lineman, installer and repairman. He was a member of Rives Union Church and was the Sunday school superintendent and a trustee and a lay leader. He was a life member of Telephone Pioneers, was active in the Obion County Youth Basketball League and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors also include two daughters and his son-in-law, Annette and Scott Ferguson and Barbara Angel, all of Union City; five grandchildren, Ben Ferguson, Dan Ferguson, Joe Ferguson, Whitney Angel and Ryan Angel, all of Union City; two sisters, Nell Garrett of Union City and Helen Scott of Jackson, Miss.; three brothers and his sister-in-law, Harry and Jane Sublett of Union City, Gerald Sublett of Corpus Christi, Texas, and David Sublett of McKenzie; another sister-in-law, Pauline Sublett of Rives; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Sublett, Vetta Garrigan and Louise Reeder; and two brothers, Edward Clifton Sublett Jr. and Carl Sublett.
