Uriah Hardiman b abt 1847, son of William J. Hardiman, was born in Charlotte Co., VA and moved to Giles Co. TN before 1860 with his parents and siblings. It appears that he moved to Lauderdale Co., AL (time frame unknown). Uriah had several half-siblings who also moved to Lauderdale Co.,AL and Lawrence Co.,TN. I believe Uriah's widow Rosebud(?) married a Richardson (She is listed as Mrs. Richardson in the 1920 Lawrence Co., TN Census.) Uriah's family moved back and forth between Lauderdale Co., AL and Lawrence Co.,TN. Known children of Uriah Hardiman and Rosebud were: Marvin Hardiman b 1885 m Mamie Irene Richardson who was probably his step-sister; Roy H Hardiman m 1st Emma Allen 2nd Rosey E. Vanderford; Willie Hardiman; Maxie Hardiman m ___ Beddingfield
There is another group of distant Hardiman cousins to Uriah's children that may be connected to this same Richardson family. These were the children of Serina Elmira "Chub" Hardiman. Chub b abt 1865 was the daughter of John Edward Hardiman and his 3rd wife Mary Scott. There is no record of a marriage for Chub. Chub's children alternated between the surnames of Hardiman and Richardson. Known children of Chub Hardiman were: James "Mitchell" Richardson/Hardiman m Bessie Kennedy 1919 Lauderdale Co., AL; Richard "Dick" Richardson/Hardiman m 1st an Emerson and 2nd a Smith; Emma Richardson/Hardiman; Lillian Hardiman m ____ Owens (She and her mother are listed as Hardiman in the 1910 Lawrence Co.,TN Census)
Both sets of these Hardiman/Richardson families were probably reared by a connected Richardson family (possibly James C. or James Lee Richardson) and/or the widow Hardiman Richardson. The known possible children of this Richardson family unit are: Mamie Irene Richardson Hardiman; Leonard Richardson; Henry Richardson; Fred Richardson m Fannie ____; Luther Richardson b 1903 (worked on Marvin Hardiman's farm 1920 Lawrence Co.,TN Census); Floyd Richardson.
Any assistance connecting these families would be appreciated.
