MRS. NARCISSA YANCEY
Mrs. Narcissa Warren YANCEY, widow of Dr. Thomas B. YANCEY, prominent physician and for many years mayor of Somerville, Tenn., died at 10 last night at her home, 1277 Carr. She was 85.
Mrs. YANCEY had been ill for only a short time. Born in Somerville, she attended school in Bolivar and Columbia, Tenn. When she returned to Somerville, she was married to Dr. YANCEY.
During the yellow fever days of 1879, Dr. Yancey was mayor of Somerville, and he and Mrs. Yancey worked unceasingly to secure medical attention for fever victims.
For years Mrs. Yancey was a leading worker in Somerville Episcopal Chruch, and had been active in Calvary Episcopal Church of Memphis since moving here 20 years ago.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. W.N. TAYLOR, Misses Mary H. and Nar Warren YANCEY, Memphis; two sons, Aleck YANCEY, Memphis, and Dr. T.B. YANCEY, Jr., Kingsport, Tenn.
J.T. HINTON & Son has charge.
Services will be conducted by Dr. Charles F. BLAISDELL at 4PM tomorrow at the residence. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Roy MARR, Walton KETCHUM, Percy CLARKE, Nat EMERSON, Will CARTWRIGHT, Randall McELROY.
