Hi, Ron. I haven't been working on genealogy for a little while, but starting back now. I am still stuck on Rufus. I have the feeling that HE is our relative connection to Ireland and I feel that he traveled to Virginia by himself. I think he had no other relatives to come to America with him but not sure if any other of his family came after him or even before him. I have tried calling some Toms names from the phone book but all I got was voice mail and left a message to call me, but they never called back. So I have come up with the idea to go to Manchester myself and place a classified message in the newspaper asking for any family member of Emily or Margaret Toms or Tomes who was married to Rufus Martin (who passed away in 1900 in Manchester) to contact me as I am working on the Martin genealogy. Hopefully I will get a response and maybe even meet and gather information and even pictures! I have no pictures of Rufus. I have also tried to find out more information on his wife (my great-grandmother) Martha Frances Farris. I do know that she moved from Manchester after Rufus died and lived in the Cleveland or Chattanooga Tennessee area when she died. I lived in Cleveland growing up and still have some relatives living there and I might go there to the archives or library and research her family. I am also going to do the DNA test. I will let you know what I find out.
