In looking for something else I got the Confederate Pension forms for Samuel Wilson Montgomery. In 1906 he was disabled due to kidney problems suffered in the Civil War. He was a blacksmith by trade. In April, 1862 (like most of the first wave of volumteers), he joined Co. D, 5th Tennessee Calvary. He was paroled in North Carolina May 3, 1865. He married Elizabeth Ann ? on 5 Jan 1860. Elizabeth Ann was born in 1844 and grew up in Bradley Co., TN. Samuel Wilson Montgomery appears to have been born there as well in 1834, but I do not know. Elizabeth Ann says that she knew him all her life. He died 17 Sep 1909. In 1878, Samuel and his wife moved to Texas. Samuel Montgomery spent the last 13 years of his life in Whiney, Hill Co., TX.
If you know anything about this family I would appreciate it if you would tell me what you know. I am missing some kin from Blount Co., TN and this may be one of them.
