Amelia SANCREN {sic} had eight living children in 1900. Only four were with the parents, so there must have been four others, probably all born in South Dakota because of the land record of 1868. Two of the others were probably Alex & Annie, see below.

In Elk Pt. Twp., 1900, there were William GOSS, b. Feb. 1875, SD IL IL; m. 5 years. Wf. Annie E., b. Mar. 1874, SD France Canada. Another census has Annie b. SD, father b. France, mother b. Ohio!

It looks as if William could have been grandson of the first Alexander LANCRAIN, You could try to get William's death certificate from the Register of Deeds of Douglas County to see whether (as it should) it names William's parents. Death certificates began mid-1905 in South Dakota.
