I am also working on the Todd's in Horry County. They are my husbands ancestors. He comes through William John Todd, Henry,James,Hilliard, Lewis Lemuel and Thelma. I am often confused by Thomas Sr.'s line. It is said he arrived in 1747,Thomas Jr. b. 10 Jan 1748. OK, he could have left after he was conceived, but what about the other children in the 1750's that are also born in Scotland? It reads as if he left before Thom. Jr. was born, alone,w/o his family and spent a LOT of time crossing the seas to have more children. It doesn't make sense.
There is a birth & christening record for Thomas that verifies dob. There is also a marriage record in Scotland, Marriages, 1561-1910 for Tomas Tod m. Margaret Bald in Moffat, Dumfries, Scotland on the date Pam Skipper also gave. The Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950 shows Tomas Tod b. 18 October 1724 in Moffat, Dumfries, Scotland to Robert Tod and Janet Hyslop. Scotland, Marriages, 1561-1910 show Robert Tod m. Janet Hislip (Hyslop)on 17 Feb. 1717 in Moffat, Dumfries. Rob't and Janet had 4 other children besides Thom. according to birth records in Scotland.
I would love share information on common ancestors of my husbands and maybe learn something new.
