Charles Elmer Eister, 87, 175 Lavelle Road, Lavelle, passed away Wednesday morning after a valiant fight with cancer.
Born in Lavelle, March 5, 1925, he was the son of George Elmer Eister and Myrtle Viola Kieffer Eister.
He was the eldest son and was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Clifford and Gerald, and his sisters, Fern and Catherine.
Charles married his childhood sweetheart, June B. Hornung of Lavelle, on April 5, 1947. They celebrated 65 years of marriage and were separated by her death in May of 2012. They had three daughters, Beverly Eister of Lavelle, Karen Robertson of Idaho and Linda Crawford of Zionsville, Pa., 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Charles served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. It was there that he was able to realize his love of flying. He loved to fly and had many opportunities to fly for recreation and enjoyed sharing his love of flight with family and friends.
He served his country and he served his God with the same dedication and devotion. As the patriarch of his family, he was always there as a teacher and example and his influence was felt by all who knew him. He loved his family and he loved his Father in heaven.
He is now reunited with his eternal sweetheart and is enjoying a reunion with his family and all those who have gone before him.
He will be missed.
