Earl W. Kieffer, 83, of 216 Grove Drive, Hegins, died Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Born May 22, 1929, in Leck Kill, he was a son of the late Harry and Pearl Dietz Kieffer.

He was a graduate of the former Mahanoy Joint High School.

He was the president of Hegins Mining Co. and was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins.

He was also a member of F&AM Valley Lodge 797, Valley View, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Millersburg Forest, the Hegins Valley View Rotary and a member and former president of the IMA.

Earl was an avid big game hunter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Kieffer and Paul Kieffer.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta V. Karper Kieffer, to whom he was married for 17 years.

He is also survived by two daughters, Jacqueline L McConomy and her husband, John, Punta Gorda, Fla., and Kay L. Morgan and her husband, Lee Hegins; two stepsons, Shawn C. Fenstermacher and his wife, Hope, Riverdale, Md., and Ryan M. Fenstermacher and his wife, Corinne, Dayton, Tenn.; three granddaughters, Beth A. Bensinger, Hegins, Emilie K. Julian, Valley View, and Allison K. Davenport, Philadelphia; two grandsons, Bradley E. Morgan, Knoxville, Tenn., and Andrew K. McConomy, Houston, Texas; two step-granddaughters, Kayla M. Fenstermacher, Riverdale, Md., and Madisyn L. Fenstermacher, Dayton, Tenn.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, with the Rev. Michael C. Klahr officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Masonic services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Fountain Community Cemetery.
