J Warren Geist, 62, of 104 W Avenue, Mount Carmel, a native of Girardville, died at his home Wednesday morning at seven o’clock. He had been in ill health with a heart condition and was confined to bed for one week.
Born March 2, 1887, he was a son of the late Simon and Emma Kehler Geist, and lived the greater part of his life in Mount Carmel. His late father conducted a grocery business in Mount Carmel for a number of years which he carried on after his death and later operated a general insurance busi-ness. He was also a sanitarian employed in the State Department of health at Harrisburg.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church, official board of the church, and superintendent of the Sunday school for a number of years. He was a member of the F & AM, Mt. Carmel; member of the Royal Arch Chapter, Shamokin, a lifetime member of the Elks, Mt. Carmel, and a charter member of the Rotary Club, Mt. Carmel.
Surviving are his wife, the former Minnie Owen; one sister, Mrs. Anna Auch, Lebanon, and a brother, Frank, Pittsford, NY.
Funeral is from his late home Saturday with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
