George F. Dippel Jr., 72, of Monges Street, Hazleton, died late Saturday at Hazleton General Hospital.
Born in Junedale on June 26, 1936, he was a son of the late George F. Dippel Sr. and the late Hazel (Hawkins) Dippel.
After graduating from West Hazleton High School in 1955, George served several years in the U.S. Navy. He then spent many years working in local industries and after retirement worked part-time at Bowl Arena in West Hazleton.
George was currently serving as pastor of the Restoration Branch in Bloomsburg.
He was known to many as a gentle spirited man and an avid bowler. His family will always remember him as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who especially loved his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years, the former Beth Affannato; a daughter, Beth Ellen Brown, and her husband, Blake, of Nescopeck; granddaughters, Rachael and Marie Brown; stepchildren, Dennis E. Eichfeld , of Claymont, Del.; and Elizabeth Ann Eichfeld, of Peabody, Mass.; a sister, Glenda Smith of Ebervale; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Butler Chapel of Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 530 W. Butler Drive, Drums, where Elder David Joyce will preside.
Burial will followin the St. Johns Lutheran and UCC Cemetery at St. Johns.
Friends may call at the Butler Chapel on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Center Place Restoration School, 819 W. Waldo Ave., Independence, MO64050, are encouraged by the family.
