–NANCY E. WORTHINGTON ROBBINS, 66, of 142 Westbrook Road, Rome, Pa. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Friday afternoon, May 31, 2019, following declining health. Nancy was born in Sayre, Pa. on October 2, 1952, the daughter of Arthur S. Worthington and Flora J. Ellis Worthington. Nancy was a graduate of Athens Area High School with the class of 1970. Nancy has always had a very strong work ethic for every task or job she took on. It could be seen throughout the home she loved and took meticulous care of. It also showed wherever she was employed. Through Nancy’s career she had worked for Arbys, the Bradford County Manor, Mr. Donut and for Al Dunn driving one of his dump trucks. Eventually she was hired at DuPont in North Towanda and worked there 27 years until she retired. It was at DuPont where she earned a reputation for the type of and dedication to the work she was known for. It was also here where a co-worker fondly, and perhaps appropriately, nicknamed her “The Nancinator” as she would attack her duties and responsibilities in such an aggressive manner. In much the same way that she went about her work, it was her unyielding dedication and love for her family that drove her to not give up when she was diagnosed with Lung cancer. It carried her through the past three and half years and kept her fighting and always looking to win that battle. Above all, and even above herself, was her dedication to her children and family. Family meant everything to Nancy. Everyone from her three children and husband, to her sisters and brothers to all her relatives and friends. Because family meant so much to her and to make sure the extended family didn’t lose touch with each other, Nancy and her husband hosted the Worthington and Friends Family Reunion at their home for over the past 20 years. With an attendance ranging from 80 to 120 people, she would organize and plan for months ahead of the reunion date to make sure everything was perfect. From the dishes that were prepared by her wonderful sisters to the timing of the day’s activities. Nancy even hired a live band she had fallen in love with called “The New Individuals.” She hired them not once but twice as she wanted to entertain her guests, and probably mostly because the lead singer could sing a Frankie Vallie song in pitch perfect as Nancy was a huge fan of the Four Seasons. Nancy is survived by her husband of nearly 24 years, Jeff Robbins, whom she married on June 24, 1995 at the Standing Stone Vesper Church; her children, Karen (Daniel) Conway, Ken Kunkle, and Kim Kunkle; grandchildren, Skylar, Morgan, Hannah and Chandler; brother and sisters, Linda (Jerry) Sarnosky, Louise Luckman, Joyce McCloskey, Ron (Amanda) Worthington, Carol Putnam, Janet (Mark) Lott, and Kathy Watkins; father-in-law, Richard “Dick” Robbins; sister-in-law, Ilene Roberts; brother-in law and sister-in-law, Brian and Shannon Robbins, Nancy’s extended family, 13 step-brothers and sisters in the Benjamin Family from Flora’s second marriage, Dear and Special friends, William “Bub” and Virginia Anderson, as well as aunts and uncles, Butch and Phyllis, Phil and Alice, Bill and Janice, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. Nancy was predeceased by her father, Arthur S. Worthington, mother, Flora Jane Ellis Worthington Benjamin, stepfather, Arthur Benjamin, brothers, Richard “Dick” Worthington, Arthur “Ockie” Worthington, and Eugene “Butch” Worthington, sisters, Marion Hyjurick, and Janice Watkins, mother-in-law, Sharon Robbins, sister-in-law, Kathy Appel and dear friend, Jenny Ryan. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda, Pa. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert W. Martin officiating. Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, Pa. The family suggests that contributions may be directed to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 5028, Hagerstown, Md. in honor of Nancy Worthington Robbins.
