How old would someone have to be to buy land in the early 1700s? I'm trying to determine when an ancestor was born. Mine, William Arment, bought land in Concord Twp in 1712. On the deed he spelled his last name Armond & no wife was mentioned. And I believe he was a constable around 1720.
What methods can I use to estimate his birth year & make it possible to look for him in vital records databases? His birth is a mystery & serving as a huge roadblock, that I'd love to get past. I have his birth at about 1690, but he may have been born closer to 1688. But I have no way of knowing. It's been a roadblock for about 30-40 years. In order to build on the Arment family tree & add more ancestors, I need his birth year or an estimate. I know he waz born in France, given his last name. So I know that much.
