Elsie Eady, 92, of Northview Estates, formerly of 13th Street, Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, departed on Wednesday morning, March 23, 2011 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Ellwood City Hospital.

Elsie was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 11, 1918 to the late Robert Letcher Sadler and the late Lula Virginia Ann Gibson Sadler.
She was a graduate of Westinghouse High School in the class of 1938 and had worked as an aide at Hillview Manor from 1972 until her retirement in 1983.
She was an ordained minister, preaching for many years, and was a member of Trinity A.M.E. Church in Ellwood City. She enjoyed crocheting and was an outstanding signer, singing in a gospel group with her sisters, the Sadler Sisters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lawrence I. Eady, Sr., whom she married November 29, 1948 and who passed away September 6, 1994.
She was also preceded by her son, Robert J. Eady in 2002, as well as two brothers and four sisters: Clarence, Emmett, Eva, and Fannie Sadler, Lillian Gibson, and Helen Strayhorn.

Elsie is survived by four daughters and two sons: Rev. Dr. Barbara Eady Saunders, Darla (and Mark) Van Den Bergh, and Mark Eady, all of Los Angeles, CA, Lawrence Eady, Jr., of Ellwood City, Pamela (and Gregg) Hill of Lake Wales, FL, and Veronica (and Hannes) Famira of Berlin, Germany.
She is also survived by three granddaughters and two grandsons: Lauren and Cassidy Hill, and Audrey, Malcomb, and Robert Eady, in addition to two great grandchildren, and her brother, James Edward Sadler, of Pittsburgh.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME of Ellwood City, Sixth Street at Park Avenue.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at TURNER’S with Rev. Dr. Barbara Eady Saunders, Elsie’s daughter, officiating.

Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
