SPRINGFIELD- Emil Nedbalek of Springfield died July 22 of age-related causes. He was 83. He was born July 9, 1917, in Burwell, Neb., to John and Tracy Sebesta Nedbalek. He married Beatrice Barrie in Reno, NV., on July 5, 1948. She died Aug. 3, 1995. During World War II, he served in the Army from Aug. 1940 to Sept. 1945. He moved to Springfield in 1947 and ran a lumber grader for Weyerhaeuser Co. for 31 years. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking and square dancing. He was a member of the Springfield Elks Lodge No. 2145.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Hammond of Medford; a son, Michael of Sacramento; a sister, Lillian Lamar of Denver; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
No service will be held. Private inurnment will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Assoc.
