DEXTER CITY - Marian Hope Mitchell, 74, of Dexter City died Wednesday morning (Dec. 4, 2002) at the home of her daughter in Caldwell after a long illness.
She was born April 21, 1928, in Noble County to Benjamin and Mareeda Boney Willey. She was a former employee of the former Westinghouse & Hamilton Beach-Scoville Co. plants in Byesville; was a former cook for the Joyce M. Davis Senior Citizens Center in Caldwell; and had worked as a poll worker for the Noble County Board of Elections for more than 30 years.
She was a member of Keith United Methodist Church in Keithtown, Ohio; the Noble County Recycled Teen-Agers Choir; and Dexter City American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a 60-year member of Laurel Grange. She was a participant in the foster grandparent program at Shenandoah Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Basil Mitchell, who died Oct. 8, 1997; her parents; one granddaughter, Stacy Davis; three sisters, Anna Irene Andersenn, Margel Schmidt and Virginia Belle Willey; and five brothers, Clinton W., Lawrence E. "Pete," William Marilin, Clyde E. and Robert Stanton Willey.
She is survived by four daughters, Charlene K. (Jack) Davis of Caldwell, Diane L. (James) Dick of Mansfield, Barbara L. (Chuck) Schott of Tenino, Wash., and Lynette A. (Mitch) Finley of Caldwell; two sons, Ronald B. Mitchell of Keithtown and Donald S. (Sue) Mitchell of Beverly; two sisters, Clela DeLancey and Ethelyn Ogle of Keithtown; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell with the Rev. Jerry Huntsman and the Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial is in Keithtown Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
