A funeral service for Nellie Marie (Litzinger) Woolard, 83, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Newark Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service, with Father Richard L. Metzger, Church of the Ascension, officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
Mrs. Woolard died April 15, 2003, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born July 2, 1919, in Newark, to the late Trafford and Mary (Metzger) Litzinger.
Mrs. Woolard was a 1937 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. As a senior, she taught first grade when the nun was ill. Following graduation, she worked at Wehrle's (Newark Stove Co.). She had also been employed by the Licking County Commissioners and was the secretary to the Licking County Dog Warden. She retired from Meijer's Thrifty Acres, where she had worked for eight years.
Mrs. Woolard was a member of the Silver Club at Zerger Hall, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Newark-Granville Altrusa Club.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra L. Woolard of Columbus, Linda A. Woolard and Mary Lou Fetter, both of Newark son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Nancy Woolard of Newark stepdaughters, Jacqueline (James) Gerber of Newark, and Justine (Kenneth) Smith of Naples, Fla. grandchildren, James Martin (Jani) Woolard, Jeffrey (Kelly) Fetter, Jason (Rhonda) Woolard, Mark Fetter, Traci J. (Matt) Priest, Bryan (Jessica) Woolard and Terra L. Woolard stepgrandchildren, Angela Loveless, Kenneth B. Smith, Dennis Smith, Bruce Smith, Marilyn Durante, David Gerber and Douglas Gerber several great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan "Dick" Woolard, on April 4, 1973 son, Bryan L. Woolard, on Feb. 7, 2000 and three brothers, Francis, Sheldon and Wilford Litzinger.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 59 N. Fifth St., Newark.
