He was my grandfather who died in June 1924. He was arrested for being a whiskey runner. While the officers were escorting him to jail he grabbed the gun of Officer Snider and shot and killed him. He then escaped and went to Buffalo, NY where I was born and was arrested two months after the incident. He was brought back to OH and the jury found him guilty within minutes of deliberations and given the death penalty. On June 24, 1924 he was executed by the electric chair. Not a good story, but all of his sons were hard workers and served in WW2. My dad Frank Cappara (yes spelled different) was in the battle of Normandy and received a Purple Heart.
