YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church for Mrs. Ernestine Catherine Turner Wagner, 80.
Ernestine, lovingly known as “Tiny,” was born July 6, 1932, in Weirton, W.Va., a daughter of Walter Lee and AnnaBell Kelley Turner.
After graduating from Wintersville High School, she moved to Akron, Ohio and resided with family until she married William H. Wagner and moved to Youngstown in 1955. Ernestine was a phenomenal homemaker, known for her cooking and baking, but most of all she was known for her ability and strength to defy the odds.
She was a member of the Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church, and was active in various ministries throughout the years which included the choir, culinary and guest services.
She was just recently honored with the position of “Church Mother.”
Ernestine leaves to cherish her memories, two children, Lynn (Gary) Brantley and Sheila Brantley, both of Youngstown, Ohio; two stepchildren, Denise (Melvin) Brown of Warrensville Heights and Darren (Deborah) Morris of Hercules, Calif.; grandchildren Gary II (Brigitte), Bryan (Katrina), Keristen, Nathan (Rebecca), and Brittany Brantley, Melvin Brown Jr. and Devyn Morris; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Pearl Morgan; and a host of loving family and friends.
Besides her parents and stepmother, Gladys Turner, who raised her, she was greeted at Heaven’s Gate on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, by her husband, Bill; sisters Evelyn Franks, Mildred Hammond, and Julia Smith; and brothers John Smith Jr. and Charles Smith.
Friends may call Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
