Donnetta Louise (Howell) Reeves, 73, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the Zusman House Hospice surrounded by her children and loved ones.
Donnetta was born on June 21, 1940 in Urbana, Ohio to the late Geraldine Berkley and Charles Howell, Sr.
At a young age Donnetta's mother passed away and she was adopted and raised by her Great Aunt and Uncle the late Homer and Vivian (Hill) Roberts.
Donnetta graduated form Urbana High School in 1958.
After graduation she attended Wilberforce University where her great uncle, Dr. Charles L. Hill once served as president.
After Wilberforce she relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she met and married Leonard Edward Reeves in 1963.
They were blessed with two beautiful children, Michael Scott Reeves and Marsha Lynn (Reeves) Smith.
Donnetta started her career with Western Electric and worked many years before briefly retiring to raise her children during their primary years.
Once returning to work she started a career in early childhood education where she served at the Children's Institute and the Child Development Council of Franklin County before retiring in 2004.
Donnetta dedicated numerous hours to her church and church family, The Wesley Church of Hope.
Donnetta was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.
She is preceded in death by her birth parents Geraldine Berkely and Charles Howell, Sr., her adoptive parents Homer and Vivian (Hill) Roberts, step mother Barbara Howell, grandmothers Blanche Howell and Marjorie (Hill) Berkley, aunts Esta Mae (Berkley)Thomas and Alberta (Hill) Jenkins and Ayesha (Berkley) Duffin.
She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her husband, Leonard Edward Reeves; children, Michael Scott Reeves and his wife Valarie Lynn Reeves, and daughter Marsha Lynn (Reeves) Smith and her husband Jeffrey Sean Smith; grandchildren, MeLeena Alycia (Reeves) Elliott and her husband Andrew Scott Elliott, Jelynn Symone Smith, Michael Scott Reeves II, Jevon Scott Smith, and Madison Lynn Reeves; great-grandchildren Xaier Scott Elliott, and Lawson Scott Elliott; brothers, Charles (Timothy) and Jeff Howell; and sisters, Jennifer and Susie Howell; special lifelong friends, James and Willie Johnson, and Harry and Isabelle Autry; her loving nephews, nieces, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Reynoldsburg Church of the Nazarene, 1340 Crest Rd, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, 43068.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 10 a.m., with service promptly following at 11 a.m. The family would like to give special thanks to The Wexner Center, and Zusman House for the loving care they dedicated to our Mother during her final months
