PILOT MOUNTIAN Wilma Hunter Mabe August 18, 2012 Mrs. Wilma Hunter Mabe, age 93, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012.
She was born in Stokes County to Robert and Ella Hunter. She was one of nine children, eight daughters and one son.
Wilma graduated from Nancy Reynolds High School where she was a basketball all star. After graduating, she worked at Amos & Smith Hosiery during World War II and married Willie Lee Mabe, a World War II veteran. The remainder of her work career was at Armtex Knitting Mill.
She lived her entire life in Pilot Mountain, NC and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Pilot Mountain.
She is survived by her daughter Hilda M Williams and son-in-law, Robert W. Williams. She has one granddaughter Whitney R. Williams who resides in Bangkok, Thailand. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews from her large extended family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kristi Rolison officiating. Interment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made in floral tribute or to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road Dobson, NC 27017.
