I've traced my tree back to John William Tomberlin (1719-1790), who married "Cherokee Woman" (which I seem to have in common with other folks). In linking with other family trees for Tomberlin, Ostenaco is listed as the father of "Cherokee Woman". The dates and places work, but I'm wondering how they know this woman's father was Ostenaco. It looks like Rowland Judd and Henry Timberlake also married Cherokee women, said to be daughters of Ostenaco. Are people in Tomberlin's line just wishfully thinking? Or did this Cherokee chief give all his daughters' hands in marriage to anglos?
