Hi Samantha, Hope this reachs you. This is my husband's family. The Ganzer's came to the Kansas City area from Dallas, Texas. They came to the US through Galveston, after a short stay in south Texas, they settled in Dallas in the 1870's. The mother didn't like the rough language of the cowboys, so the family, except for 3 older siblings, left for the Kansas City area. My husband is a descendent of one of the siblings who stayed in Texas. The family owned a farm outside of town--the land is where SMU sits now. The Texas family moved to Denton County. And yes, Ganzer Rd., off I-35 north of Denton is named for our Ganzer family. The cemetery by the Blue Mound United Methodist Church holds many of the Ganzer ancestors. My husband's family farm sits just behind the church. They (the Ganzers) were one of the first German families in Denton County. Have extensive material on this family--would love to share this with you. My husband, Bobby, and I have been to the Ganzer family Cem., outside Lee's Summit, MO. several times. My family (Oesch) moved to Texas in 1953 from Lee's Summit, MO. My German family is from Cass Co., MO.--a neighboring county. Hope to hear from you soon
