Thank you for bringing the Hooten connection to my attention. My first inclination was to skip the Clark connection completely since my ancestors name was William Clark. Then I noticed Council and Jethro in the area with him. My William Clark was previously married prior to his arrival in MS. As you probably already know, his first three children were born in NC. He married Nancy Jane Clark Jan. 10, 1849. They had 4 or 5 daughters, Mary Clark was born c. 1849 so I am assuming that Jane is her mother. Margaret Ellin Clark was born circa 1853, Sallie Clark was born circa 1857, Matilda "Mattie" Clark was born July 20, 1860 and died March 24, 1925 in Yazoo Co., MS. She was married to John Ryan. Alice Minerva Clark was born circa 1864 and died before 1910. She was married to Charles E. Hambright, Sr.

I am descended from William's daughter Alice Minerva Clark. She died before 1910 probably in Sharkey County, MS.

I can find William Clark in Yazoo Co. in 1850 and Warren County in 1860. From there on I could only find him in various court and tax records. He lived in Good Intent, Sharkey County, MS in 1883 according to the tax records. He had custody of Margaret Ellin Clark's children ( Abner and Ellen Trucks) in the early 1800's and requested of the court to sale land that they had inherited for their sustenance. December 7, 1883 he deeded 153 acres in SharkeyCounty, MS to his daughter, Alice, for love and affection. He also applied for the marriage licence on this day
for Alice and Charles to marry. He signed for Charles Hambright.

As I previously stated, I believe that C. Clark in Elizabeth Baker's household in 1860 to be Council Clark since Reuben is also listed. I couldn't really tell if he was Elizabeth's brother Reuben who was born circa 1840 in NC or Council's son born c. 1843. I am just assuming that he is Council's son.

Jethro Clark signed the marriage bond with William for his license to marry Nancy Jane Clark. I wasn't certain if his connection was to William or to Nancy Jane.

I live in MS and will check for further information on Council and Jethro Clark and the Hooten family. Thank you again for all of the info. Hopefully, it can be sorted out.
