I can only suppose that the first Mary Elizabeth, Matilda and Josephine died young and the second daughters of those names were named after them.

The R A Taylor family moved to Shelby County Alabama in the 1820's

It is believed that Mary Holmes Taylor Jones - husband Willis Jones - was a sister to Robert A Taylor. The Jones moved to Shelby County AL in 1820's and then to Talladega Co AL. Their parents were Richard Taylor (land owner and veteran of the American Revolution and the War of 1812 - may have been a major in the 11th regiment of va) - think their mother was Anna Holmes. Related families Holmes, Fox, Gholson, Jones, Hightower
