Sorry to sound rude but on one part you are wrong not all of the Cherokee's were documented like you are saying. my grand mother who was part Cherokee died in 1991, before she died she told me that her family was of the deer clan and they came into this area (southern WV, Pike Co. KY) during the removals because they felt they had been wronged because they had an agreement with the government and lived for some time in a hunting village in what is now Panther WV, While this group was here they were supplying the Cherokee's fighting in NC,SC,and GA with food but when the main group was finally split with some being forced to OK and some signing a treaty to stay in NC (now Cherokee NC) these 2 groups are documented (the OK group and the NC group) but the group from the deer clan stayed in this area because they felt that the ones that signed the treaty had turned against the rest of them and because they stayed in this area they were never documented and when the census came to their area a lot of them put down that they were white in fear of being removed to the west or killed and the reason i know this to be true is that Me and my Mother had DNA testing done through the Heritage Research, and we both have Cherokee blood but none of my family going back is a documented Cherokee so yes there are Cherokee people that are not documented but the sad part is it's almost imposable to research an undocumented Cherokee family
