Interesting, and I'd like to learn more. What are the sources being quoted: "John F. Duckworth" and "the epidemic timeline" ?

There is also lore about Rowan County stating there was an 1806 epidemic, but the librarian at the Rowan County public library's History Room said they have no data about it.

Thanks for any insight.

February 2012: I am trying to discover what the disease was that caused an epidemic in Burke County, NC in November 1807. My ancestor, Jonathan Duckworth, died on November 10, 1807 "of a disease that reached epidemic proportions" to quote John F. Duckworth. He and his neighbors, Silas Murphy, John Bryant, and Mrs. Mary Bradley, all died within a span of four days.

August 2012: According to the epidemic timeline, the disease was scarlet fever. What once was a fatal disease is now treated successfully.
