John Perry fought in the Revolutionary War as a private in Capt. Griffin McRee's company of the 1st NC Battalion. He lived in Wilmington during the war then White's Creek township, Bladen county, NC. The DAR recognizes him as Ancestor No. A089408. His service may be also recognized by the SAR. Anyone who can prove descent from him and cares to, is eligible to join the DAR or the SAR.
One DAR application lists his children as:
Jenkin, David, John Jr., Nancy, Daniel, husband of Margaret J. Campbell Clark, and his stepdaughter, Margaret Colville.
He MAY be the John Perry buried in Perry Cemetery, Council, Bladen county, NC, Findagrave memorial no. 65304266, with no dates but a reference to Capt. McRee's unit in the RW.
Hope this helps someone.
