PLATTSBURGH — Leonard O'Brien Welsh, 87, of Lynde Street., died Monday June 11, 2001, at the Eddy Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes.
He was born in Saranac on Sept. 29, 1913, the son of William and Helen (O'Brien) Welsh.
Leonard was married to the former Esther Hutchins for 59 years.
Mr. Welsh was a member of St. John's Church and a member of the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge for 50 years. Leonard worked for 37 1/2 years at the Dannemora State Hospital for the Criminally Insane retiring in 1974 as principle stores clerk.
Survivors include his wife, Esther of Plattsburgh; one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Jean and John Church Jr. of Loudonville; five grandchildren and spouses, John and Ashlee Church III of Delmar, Carol and Gerald Paris of Albany, Patricia and Kenneth Harrison of Albany, James and Muriel Church of East Greenbush and Craig Church of Loudonville; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis and Kayleigh Church, Tresa and Amanda Paris and Joshua, Courtney and Danielle Harrison.
Two brothers, Weldon Welsh and Francis Welsh died earlier.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Cedar River Cemetery in Indian Lake.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
