Peru — Ronald H. Shane, 70, of Maiden Lane, Peru, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Gordon and Ruth (Krebs) Shane.
Ronald was a MSGT in the United States Air Force. His final assignment was Plattsburgh Air Force Base where he retired following 23 years of service.
Upon his retirement, he began driving school bus for the Peru Central School, retiring in 1994.
Ronald was an honorary member of the Peru Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7273 in Peru.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, the former Ann Johnson of Peru; two sons, Patrick Shane of Corning, N.Y., and TSGT Michael Shane of Landover, Md.; and one daughter, Kathy Shane of Alexandria, Va.; and six granddaughters, Bronwyn, Kathryn, Rachael, Chyna, Maureen, and Sarah.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Peru, with Rev. Vicente Jazmines, pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the Saratoga National Cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.
