I am looking for any information on the family of John & Rebecca Curran, Irish immigrants, who lived in the county briefly around 1840. John appears in that census with a woman (presumably Rebecca) in her 20's and a girl under 5. Later census records show that the family had one son while in Washington County - William James - and that by 1842 they had moved on to Herkimer Co., where their other children were born. It seems probable that John was a laborer on the Champlain Canal who then moved on to the Erie when work was completed in Washington Co. I realize that any records of such a brief time may not exist, but am wondering if there might be a birth record for William, or a death record for the girl indicated in the census, since all subsequent records show William as the oldest child in the family.
