I am researching the family of Abijah Putnam. He is found in the town records of Schaghticoke, New York between 1785-1792. He also appeared in the 1790 census in Cambridge, New York. I am searching for the name of his wife.
Abijah had a grandson named Goyne McCoy Putnam who was born in 1821. Goyne was the son of John Wellington Putnam (Abijah's son) and Minerva Cleveland (daughter of Stephen Cleveland & Polly Goodin).
My thought is that maybe Goyne's name came from his mystery grandmother and that she was a member of the McCoy family that was in and around Schaghticoke and the greater Washington County area in the 1780's.
Abijah Putnam later returned to the area in 1811 when he witnessed the Will of Ezra Dyer of Greenwich, New York.
