I only have time for a brief query right now, but I can post more information later.
My ancestor was Calvin KIDDER, b1765 NH. He had an older brother, Wilder KIDDER, b1753 NH. They were 2 of 9 children of Joseph and Rebecca (CHAMBERLAIN) KIDDER of New Ipswich and Temple, NH. Wilder KIDDER fought in the Rev. War, and, according to the KIDDER book, he was a "famous and animated Fifer." And, he fought in several states, including Valley Forge. He married in NJ to Margaret MIDDAGH in 1781. At some point they came to live in NH and were found in the 1820 census in Jaffrey, NH.
But, according to pension records on-line, they might have been in Tioga Co., NY, in 1819. And he was found there in 1835. So, I'm thinking the couple moved back and forth between NH and NY during 1815-1835.
I've wondered for many years when Wilder KIDDER died, and where he died. I don't have an easy way to check out whether he shows up in the 1830 or 1840 census for NY State.
Wilder and Margaret KIDDER never had children, so they had no descendants.
Does anyone have any advice as to find out if Wilder KIDDER was in Tioga Co., in 1840, or whether he possibly died between 1835 and 1840 in NY ?
In case anyone is interest, this is the KIDDER web site:http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kidderfami...
(I've been researching the KIDDER's for 20 years, and my line goes: James, John, Thomas, Joseph, Calvin, Joseph "Calvin," Joseph, George "Sanford," Clarissa. I've corresonded with George Kidder in FL for at least 15 yrs. and help when I can.)
