Unidentified Newsclipping - 1896

MOSHER.--James MOSHER was born in Hoosick, Rensselaer County, New York, April 1, 1808, and died in Hoosick Falls, Rensselaer County, New York, March 2, 1896, at the home of his son-in-law, Ira FROST, Jr., after a few weeks' illness. When about twenty-seven years old he was married to Miss Salome PHILLIPS; to them were given six children, four of whom remain. Brother MOSHER was converted when about twenty years of age. He had been under conviction for some time, seeking pardon, but unable to find it. One morning before daylight, while attending to his duties on the farm, he determined then and there to find the Saviour. In a little while the witness was given; he opened his eyes, and it seemed to him that the stars shone as never before. He united with the Methodist Episcopal Church soon after, and remained an earnest and devoted member. For many years he served as class leader; he was a man of gifts in prayer, speech, and song. Although a busy and hard-working man, he found time for family worship. He was unable to attend church for some time previous to his death, but had communion with God at home. His mind was clouded in some measure during his sickness, but cleared shortly before his death. The end came peacefully. P. L. DOW
