In 1904, more than 1,000 Manhattanites perished in the fire and sinking of the steamboat General Slocum in the East River. Some of my father's cousins perished that day - Marria/Maria FICKBOHM and her children Marria and Ernest.
Her other son Frederick (B. Jul 1894) survived.
Husband & father Peter FICKBOHM (B. 1859) in Altenbruch, Germany was not onboard that day. Frederick grew up and married a woman named Lillian and they had a daughter. Fred died in a nursing home in Morristown, NJ in 1979. I would like to get in contact with FRED FICKBOHM'S daughter and her family.
