As I a genealogist for the Castledermot area which is in the southern part of County Kildare, I have frequently come across families which have emigrated from here to Auburn, Cayuga County, NY. One such family is:
THE HARMANS OF DAVIDSTOWN PILSWORTH
The first record I have of the Harman name in Castledermot is Richard Harman. From the information I have at present, I would conclude that he obtained a grant of land of about 70 acres in the townland of Davidstown Pilsworth in the 1790’s, and that he died sometime before 1824.
NOTE: The names is spelled Harmon in most parts of US.
