Fred Gildner was born in Mecklenburg Germany in 1861, the son of Fred and Dora Gildner. He came to America with his parents at the age of 13 years. He spent some time in Buffalo, later coming to Morton's Corners, after which he came to East Otto. In 1884 he was married to Miss Mary Tonger. He then purchased the Tonger homestead in the town of Ashford and lived there until August 21 when death suddenly took him while taking his milk to the factory. The funeral was held Wednesday and was largely attended by friends and relatives at the Plato Lutheran Church of which he was a member. Rev. W. H. Malto officiating. Besides his wife he leaves one son, Edson, two sisters Mrs. Fred Draves, Mrs. Chas. Ross of Buffalo, 3 grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss.
