Juan "Chino" A. Torres, 57, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Monday, March 26, 2007 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was born March 27, 1950 in Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico to Jesus and Felisa Aguirre Torres. "Chino" as he was fondly known to his family and friend had been an area resident the past thirty-seven years; was a construction laborer and a communicant at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lydia Villalobos Torres of the family home; one daughter, Christina Torres of Doña Ana; six brothers, Jose Torres, Ricardo Torres and wife San Juana, Laurencio Torres and wife Norma, Marcelino Torres and wife Eliseña all of Doña Ana, Manuel Torres and wife Maria of Fresno, California, Seferino Torres of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters, Maria and Rita Torres both also of Doña Ana. Other survivors include one granddaughter, Julissa Torres; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Chino will begin at Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007 in Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Doña Ana with Reverend Miguel Macaya officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Doña Ana Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be Michael Fernandez, Juan, Ricardo, Seferino, Marcelino and Antonio Torres.
