Edward Ivinson was the foremost philanthropist in the history of Laramie, Wyoming. The Laramie Plains Museum is located in his former mansion. Born on St Croix in 1830, he eventually arrived in New York in about 1852. We have a good history on him and his ancestors. On 12 April 1854 he married Jane Wood who had recently arrived in New York at the age of 13. The family history tells us that her mother (who lived in New York)disapproved of the plans of the 23 yr old Ivinson to marry young Jane so they went to Jersey City to get married. I am a senior volunteer docent at the museum and am looking for some help to see if there is a record of the marriage and if so if it lists the names of the parents of Jane. We are having difficulty establishing exactly who they were. Any information would be greatly appreciated. If you want to see the mansion you can go to http://www.laramiemuseum.org/

EDIT - from reading some of the other items in the forum here is additional information: I do not know what church they were married in but I do know that they were both Protestants. He was baptized in the Anglican Church and they both were benefactors of the Episcopal Church here in Laramie.
