The identified Museum is a Museum...
--All land making up Richland Precinct was conveyed to Martin Spitley of Springfield, IL, in 1875.
--The article writer, Elsie Brockelsby, died 2004.

The 1870 Census shows two Martin Spitley:
1. Living in Chester, Logan Co, IL, age 52(1817/1818) in Bavaria, farmer
Balbeema(as written), 36, born in Baden Baden (Germany, a beautiful Spa town).
Lewis 15(1854/1855), Charles 13 and Mary 11.
2. Living in West Lincoln, Logan Co, age 5, son of Joseph Spitley, farmer, born in Germany (possible brother to above, without doing any further research to confirm that issue).
--He died in 1878 in Logan Co.;
His father, Joseph was the brother of Martin, both were born as "Spoetle."

There are eight family trees containing Martin. Born 27 Aug 1818 in Bavaria, married 1854 to Balbina Frank in St. Louis, MO. Last residence found in Chester, Logan Co, IL, 1880 Census.
(After finding the Spoetle name, I found your family tree concerning them. When you post, post the link to your tree, it really helps volunteers to get the big picture and see what information you already have: )

No land was issued under a land patent via the US Government to Martin Spitley or Spoetle names.

The US Geological Survey did not identify any names of towns, creeks, hills, etc., under either names.

There were no references found in the Nebraska State Historical Society databases.

Martin as Martin Spoetle died 1899 is buried in Logan Co, IL.;
