Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17th [1954] at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Gottwald conducting the services, for Herman J. Hogenmiller, who passed away Wednesday, July 14th at his home. His death was due to acute coronary thombosis, death occuring a few minutes after being stricken. He was the son of the late Felix and Elizabeth Muessig Hogenmiller and was born at New Offenburg in Ste. Genevieve County, April 15, 1890 and was 64 years, 2 months and 29 days of age at the time of his death.

In May 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Florence Evelyn Barton, to which union two children were born. They are Linus Hogenmiller and Alta (Mrs. Leslie Rudloff) both of Farmington. He is survived by his wife and children also by seven grandchildren. Other survivors are one sister, Miss Sophia Hogenmiller of St. Louis, 4 brothers, John of Ste. Genevieve, Philip of Lincoln, Nebr., Peter of Carbondale, Ill., and Tom [Thomas] of Phelps, Wis.

Mr. Hogenmiller spent the greater part of his life in and around the railroad depots in Southern, Ill. He worked as telegraph operator and traffic manager, beginning at the early age of 17 years. He followed this type of work in Missouri and Ill. until coming to Farmington 37 years ago, where he served as station agent many years.

Mr. Hogenmiller was one of Farmington's most highly respected citizens and his cheerful disposition and sunny smile could not be excelled.

Interment was in the New Cavalry (sic) Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service in charge.

[The above obituary came to me as an undated newspaper clipping. However, I believe it was probably published in either the Farmington News of Farmington, Missouri, or the Lead Belt News of Flat River, Missouri.]
