In the fall of 1812, Captain Thomas Craig Military - Territory ordered that the village be burned and all its habitants to leave without a formal process. Francois and his family found refuge in Portage des Sioux. On 12/13/1813, thirteen habitants of Peoria sued and their lawyer was none other than Honest Abe!!!!!!!!
