Trying to locate the burial place for my civil war soldier. Was a Pvt. in Co. F, 3rd MO Cav.
Per civil war service records he died Oct. 25, 1862 at regiment hospital in Rolla (was the courthouse ?). He was 17 and on duty taking care of the horses. He died of disease.

Per research, Rolla was populated with many soldiers and I expect many died there. Anyone know where burials would have been ?

My soldier was James P. Snow. (Co. F, 3 MO Cav). I know most burials were temporary and many were moved to national cemeteries after the war, but I have checked Springfield National and Jefferson City National and not found James P. Snow. I am now wondering if he is one of the "unknown" burials that ended up in one of these national cemeteries. Or was it common that burials were just sent home ? His home was in Knox County, MO.
