Hi, Alonzo "Lon" Tohill, (b.1898- d.bef 1940), of Pemiscot Co., MO, whose children included a daughter Mary K, (b.1924), who sounds like the one to whom you're referring, was the son of Andrew J. Tohill, (1854-1926), and Ethel (Seaney) Tohill, (1876-1915). Both parents had family origins going back to Crawford Co, IL., where three of Alonzo's grandparents are buried. Alonzo's maternal grandmother, Margaret Jane (Parker) Seaney Mills Seaney, (twice married to the same man), was buried somewhere in Pasadena, Los Angeles Co., CA.. Her father was my great-great-grandmother's brother. Alonzo's mother Ethel fatally shot her own father, John A Seaney, (1857-1896), in what was ruled self defense, during a domestic dispute that took
place about 2 years before Alonzo was born. [I suspect this John A Seaney
had spent some time in prison during the 15 years between his 1st and 2nd
marriage to Alonzo's grandmother, although the Seaney family genealogical
records that can be found in Crawford Co., IL don't say much about him, in
comparison to his siblings and the rest of the family, whether from a lack of
information or because he was the family's black sheep.] Alonzo's wife was
Nannie Florence (Mitchell) Tohill, (1900-1964). They had at least three other
children besides Mary. Alonzo had two brothers: Lawrence Sylvester Tohill,
(1899-1968), of Saint Louis, MO; and Obie Burton Tohill, (1904-1987), of
Cape Girardeau Co., MO; as well as sisters Alta (Tohill) Ritchey (1902-1986),
and Drusie Tohill, (b.1901). I hope this information helps you at least a little
bit. Sorry I can't supply greater detail on the family in Pemiscot Co., MO from
my home back here in Indiana.
