Jimmie Dean Schmidt, of Sullivan, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2013 at the SSM St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri at the age of 78 years.

Jimmie Dean was born February 7, 1935, near Sullivan to the late Charles and Maude (Blankenship) Schmidt. He and Peggy Copeland were married June 18, 1955 in Sullivan and to this union four daughters were born.

Mr. Schmidt worked for several years as a lineman for the telephone company. For over forty years, he worked managing and running cattle farms in the Sullivan area. He served as a director for the Crawford Electric CO-OP and on the Board of Directors of the Farmers and Merchants Bank in St Clair, Missouri. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid trail rider often riding his favorite horse, Spirit.

Mr. Schmidt is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the family home; by three daughters, Paula Erickson of Sullivan, Patricia Miller and husband, Ralph, also of Sullivan and Penny Schmidt of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Eddie Gene Schmidt and wife, Verna, of Sullivan and a Sister Anita Cartwright of Sullivan. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Hilda Schmidt of Sullivan and a brother-in-law Robert Stevens of Ft. Meyers, FL; along with eight grandchildren, Justin Hunt, Jessica Hantz, Jennifer Lively, Kristen Jannings, Brandon Erickson, Chad Fife, Cayli Miller and Bryndon Schmidt and six great-grandchildren: Addy Lively, Brayden and Noah Jannings, Hayden, Corbin and Colten Fife.

Mr. Schmidt was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Pamela Schmidt, four brothers; Russell, Harold, Hadley and Roscoe Schmidt and two sisters; Ruth Stevens and Ava Owens

Visitation for Mr. Schmidt was held on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home with Pastor Kirk Parnell officiating. Interment was in Crow Cemetery, Sullivan, MO.
