Lucy C. Jones, wife of the late Fred Jones and daughter of the late Edward and Esther Bledsoe Carey, was fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on April 22, 1987 at the age of 85 years.
Mrs. Jones was born December 23, 1901 near Sullivan at what was then known as Elmont, Missouri. She lived her younger years in the Sullivan area and on October 5, 1929, she was married to Fred Jones. To this marriage one daughter was born. Lucy and Fred later made their home in Galesburg, Illinois. Mr. Jones preceded her in death in November of 1963. Mrs. Jones was employed as a nurses aid for several years at the Gailsburg Hospital before coming back to the Sullivan area. She had made her home with her daughter in South Plainfield, New Jersy since 1981. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Saint Anthony parish of Sullivan.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Bob Wilson of South Plainfield, New Jersey; three grandchildren, Margaret, Sarah, and Sean Wilson, one brother, Albert Carey of Sullivan, one sister, Francis Daughtery of Arnold, Missouri, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Jones was also preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
Parish prayer services were conducted 7:30 p.m. Thursday, from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home with Deacon Mike Sabo officiating. Funeral mass was celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 1987 from Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, Sullivan, Missouri with the Rev. Father Charles Deister officiating. Interment was in Saint Anthony's Church Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
