I realize this thread is old but an hoping someone can share information. I am the 3 time great granddaughter of Washington Slinkard and Mary Ann Old(s?). I am able to find their marriage license from 1850 in Cape Girardeau County and they also appear in the 1850 Federal Census in the same county. However, the only other information I can find on Washington is a note on Mary Ann's Find-A-Grave entry that refers to him as George Washington Slinkard. The 1850 Census lists him around 20 years old which is what leads me to believe he was born around 1830. I'm trying to find his parents.
I have been able to learn that, apparently sometime after 1853 when their son John F. Slinkard was born, Mary Ann remarried a Lewis (Louis?) Nelson Dees. Her entry in Find-A-Grave lists her as Dees. However, I haven't been able to learn when she married this Dees or what happened to Washington Slinkard, i.e. don't know if he died or they might have divorced.
Any additional information will be greatly appreciated as I seem to have come to a roadblock on tracing this Slinkard line back any further. Thanks.
